Letter from the Director: Welcome to Year 5!

Recently, I had the pleasure of gathering with my R1CC colleagues in Waltham, Massachusetts. I enjoyed seeing everyone in-person and making those personal connections. More importantly, I enjoyed having two days of dedicated time to examine and discuss the most pressing topics from state, local, and school leaders in Region 1.

Familiar priorities, innovative solutions

Our mission is to help Region 1 states, districts, and schools build the capacity to improve educational outcomes for all students by developing the tools, processes, and systems that address high leverage needs of the field. With that focus, we worked with our state team partners to design technical assistance projects that complement and enhance existing efforts in their highest priority areas.

During the retreat, we talked about those priorities and initiatives. We reviewed the work we completed in our first four years and looked for opportunities to build on those successes. Then, we created annual service plans that will serve as our guides for this fiscal year. The priority topics identified for our Year 5 projects, which focus on evidence-based literacy instruction, strengthening the educator workforce, college and career readiness, student mental health, and supporting newcomers.

Follow our work and join the conversation!

Those conversations provided new energy and excitement for the projects we will be working on in Year 5. I am pleased to lead these efforts, and grateful for the support of partners like you as we move forward.
