
Julia Casasanto-Ferro is a Senior Researcher and Project Lead for the Region 1 Comprehensive Center. She has more than ten years of research and evaluation experience in special education, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), evidence-based practices, and project management. She leads a project with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) that is developing a tool to support school and district leaders in selecting high-quality reading interventions that are appropriate for their specific need and context.
Ms. Casasanto-Ferro supports schools’ implementation of MTSS, emphasizing the integration of academic and behavior supports. She also assists educators in becoming informed consumers of assessment and intervention tools through the development and maintenance of materials that summarize the tool’s research base.
