Melissa Aste is the project coordinator for the Region 1 Comprehensive Center at AIR. Her areas of focus include student attendance and engagement, early literacy, postsecondary readiness, and social-emotional learning. Ms. Aste is responsible for tracking center projects and services, maintaining project timelines, and supporting center personnel.
Ms. Aste has helped facilitate communities of practice with state and district leaders for measuring student engagement during remote and hybrid learning, and for addressing students’ mental health needs. Ms. Aste has also engaged in work with State Education Agencies (SEAs) to develop and conduct a statewide needs assessment on early literacy practices. She has also contributed to the development of center products, such as infographics and briefs related to students’ postsecondary readiness. In addition, she has led resource and policy scans to support SEAs in the implementation of educational practices.
