Our partners in Vermont are focused on implementing cradle-to-career initiatives aimed at bolstering the opportunities and readiness of students to access workforce and economic development efforts. Vermont has experienced decreasing birth rates and increasing out-migration, resulting in a steady decline of the state’s overall population. The state is addressing these needs through a range of cradle-to-career initiatives designed to improve educational outcomes for students through increasing student opportunity and incentivizing economic investments. The Region 1 team is supporting Vermont’s efforts through an analysis of the existing program landscape to help Vermont state education leaders, policymakers, and district leaders better understand the resources, supports, opportunities, and barriers influencing students’ educational experiences. These efforts will also support state and local stakeholders in thinking beyond traditional boundaries to develop action plans that align with local priorities and leverage regional assets. Projects include the following:
