Our partners in Maine are focused on fostering a culture of educational innovation and building state capacity to address persistent educational challenges with new ways of thinking. The Maine Dept of Ed seeks to address the complex and evolving needs of students by reimagining their current educational pathways and applying innovative thinking strategies to support all students in achieving their education and workforce goals The Region 1 team is supporting MEDOE with these redesign efforts by identifying the root causes for this challenge, developing a multi-year redesign work plan, and launching pilot interventions across the state to understand which practices work best in different contexts.  This context-driven, locally focused, and innovative approach will be particularly important for Maine’s rural communities to address issues of declining populations and loss of economic opportunities. Projects include the following:
